Director of Membership

Reports to: VP Membership and Outreach
Term: One Year
Purpose: Manage membership-related tasks for the Chapter
Monthly Commitment: 25 hours

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports VP of Membership in member recruitment and retention initiatives
  • Manages the membership database with continually updated new member and renewal information.
  • Manages any issues with the member registration system, as necessary.
  • Recruits and assembles chapter team registering for annual ICE conference, per ATD National guidance
  • Conducts new member orientation prior to monthly meetings. Ensure participation of Board members, highlight volunteer opportunities and seat each new member with a current Board member at the meeting
  • Respond to any membership inquiries in a timely manner (24 hrs)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • All board members are required to attend 9 of 12 board meetings per year and at least six chapter events which may include CoPs, Monthly Programs, or Professional Development events
  • Must be available to attend Board meetings and other functions as required by the position
  • Active national membership in ATD and status as a member in good standing of the DC chapter
  • Ability to build, motivate, and lead a team of volunteers
  • Ability to plan and organize meetings. Meeting planning experience is not required.
  • Strong creativity to select interesting topics and formats
  • Willingness to reach out to potential speakers outside of one’s network and ask them to speak at a meeting
  • Ability to complete projects with established timeframes and budgets
  • Ability to delegate tasks and monitor follow-through
  • Ability to build, motivate, and lead a team of volunteers
