As of 2020, there are 13.2 million people in the United States who have visual, auditory, ambulatory, or cognitive disabilities. These individuals rely on accessibility compliance standards, also referred to as Section 508 compliance or WCAG. These WCAG standards ensure all users are able to utilize modern technology to access information in various forms, including audio, video, and tactile.

A deep understanding of all 508 requirements helps the development of new content, or in the case of legacy content, proper remediation. If not properly designed or remediated, documents, videos, and eLearning sources can present challenges to people with disabilities.

Laws have been in place for years that mandate accessibility standards, however, content developers in both private industry and government agencies alike still struggle to maintain compliance. As professional Instructional Designers and Developers, it is our responsibility to utilize our knowledge and expertise to ensure the creation of the most accessible, inclusive content possible.

This webinar provides guidance to understand and apply 508 compliance standards to eLearning content creation using Articulate Storyline. We include real-world examples to help webinar attendees understand what it takes to make compliant eLearning content. Within the webinar, we will evaluate digital content for all WCAG compliance standards including: Descriptive text for accessible audio, Alt text usage, Color contrast ratio requirements, Intuitive content tab order or tagging, Accessible presentation content, and use Accessibility analysis tools.
