eLearning doesn’t have to be a content-focused experience that leaves learners overwhelmed and wondering how it all applies to them. Incorporating storytelling into your design is a great way of making content easier to understand and feel relevant to the learner. But how well you design stories into your courses is what determines its success.
In this session, you’ll learn four primary steps for using storytelling to enhance your elearning courses. First, you’ll learn strategies for finding the stories you’ll need to tell. Next, you’ll learn tips for using instructional design strategies for building character-driven narratives. Then, we’ll discuss how to bring a story to life by creating an environment and adding story elements that engage learner emotions. Finally, we’ll discuss story structure and how it influences how the learner will experience your story.

Speaker: Hadiya Nuriddin
Hadiya Nuriddin has two decades of experience in learning strategy, instructional design, elearning development, and facilitation. She worked in corporate learning before choosing to found her firm, Duets Learning, where she's worked with a wide array of companies on a variety of topics. She speaks at events and industry conferences and travels teaching courses for the Association for Talent Development (ATD). Hadiya holds an MEd in curriculum studies, an MA in writing, and the Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) designation. She is the author of the book StoryTraining: Selecting and Shaping Stories That Connect, published by ATD.
